Almost any kind of modification you make of various objects in Prezi is done using the so-called Transformation tool. As the name itself suggests, this tool allows you to edit any content you place on your canvas. Where to find it? Just click on any object on the canvas you want to modify, and this transformation tool will appear. The transformation tool may differ in terms of the options available when it comes to editing images and texts.
Now, let’s look more closely at what this tool actually does.
Transformation tool used with objects
To move any object, you just need to click on it. When the transformation tool appears, hold the hand symbol and drag.
When the transformation tool appears, you can also use it to change the size of the selected object. There are two ways to do this. One is to click the plus and minus buttons, and the other one is to simply click and drag the corners in or out.
If you want to rotate an object, simply click and hold a corner and rotate in any direction you like.
Other options that appear with this transformation tool are Delete, which is used to remove the object from the canvas, and Favorite, the option used to save objects to your Favorite collection so that you can use them in some other prezis.
Transformation tool used with images
Transformation tool allows you to do several things with images. You will see that first there is the option to replace the selected image with another one. When you choose to replace the image, the new one will have the same size.
There is also the option to crop images and apply certain effects, which is a cool way to change your images in Prezi).
Of course, there are the Delete and Favorite option with images as well.
Transformation tool used with texts
To modify a text in any way, you first need to select it. Another way to group words or other objects is by using frames.
Then, the transformation tool will appear and you can then use it to edit the selected text in terms of changing its size, color, and font. Also, you can mark it as title, subtitle or body. Besides this, you can use bullet points and alignment.
Transformation tool used with frames
Frames serve to group objects so that you can move or change size or rotate all the objects in a frame at the same time. How to do this? Of course, using the transformation tool.
First, to add a frame, you will see the option for that on the top left sidebar. Here, you can change the type of a frame, but if you want to add it, simply drag it to the canvas.
As with any other elements on the canvas, transformation tool for frames offers the basic options: moving, changing size and rotating, adding to Favorites and deleting. What you can also find here is the button which allows you to zoom to frame and change the type of the frame. There are four options here: bracket, circle, rectangle, and invisible. If you have changed your mind and now don’t want a frame, you can also remove it. The color of the frame can be changed as well. Two other options are also offered: Favorite and Delete.
Right-clicking the frame gives you a few additional options when compared to the ones you already have with other objects. Here you also have:
Zoom to frame: the frame is brought into a full view.
Animate frame contents: this allows you to use fade-in animation.
Remove frame without deleting content: a great option that saves your time in case you change your mind and want to delete the frame without having to type everything inside it again.
If you right click any object, you will be offered even more options for editing the selected content. The most important here is the option for layering objects, but let’s see what else we can find here.
These are the options that you can find here:
Edit: brings up the transformation tool.
Add to Path: the selected object is added to your path but is numbered as the last one added.
Add to Favorites: the content is saved to your collection and can be reused in other presentations.
Bring Forward: this moves the object you select one step forward.
Bring to Front: this one means that the selected object is moved to the front, swapping its place with all the objects that were in front of it.
Send Backward: the object goes just one step backward.
Send to Back: the object is moved to the back, behind all the other objects.
Turn spell-checker off: this disables the Prezi function that checks the spelling of a text on the canvas.
Start presentation: this moves you to Present mode.
Cut: the object you select will be removed from the canvas and placed on the clipboard of your computer.
Copy: you use this to copy the chosen object to your computer’s clipboard.
Paste: you use this after cutting or copying an object. It serves to paste the objects previously cut or copied to your clipboard.
Delete: deletes the object you select. If you accidentally delete something, don’t worry. There is the Undo button which you can use to retrieve the deleted object.
And there you have it – all the options Prezi transformation tool offers in a nutshell. As you can see, there are various possibilities here but since Prezi is user-friendly, you surely won’t get confused. Now go and check everything that this transformation tool can do.
